Is there a notepad type program that displays php code color format?
Posted by lexington, 09-01-2008, 09:38 AM Hello, is there a (free script would be great) that acts like a notepad except that it displays php coding in Dreamweaver style colors so that it is easier to read? I ask since while working I sometimes copy code to notepad before I apply it to another file and it would be great if it were color coded. Thanks!

Posted by prashant1979, 09-01-2008, 12:54 PM notepad++ is a good application, but many a times it tends to break. Use Editplus, one of the best text editors which supports so many different languages.

Posted by juangake, 09-02-2008, 09:00 AM My advice is invest on Ultraedit for windows. You can try it for free and buying it is just a few bucks for a professional text/source editing tool. I can't live without its tabbed files, Find In Files and Replace in Files and advanced configuration.
Posted by aradapilot, 09-02-2008, 12:22 PM Notepad++ has been my favorite for over a year now. However Ultraedit is also nice and worth trying out to see what suits you best.

Posted by meb124, 09-09-2008, 06:00 PM I think almost every programmer has strong feelings about their notepad. I use notepad++ programmer's notepad is also good.

Posted by luke_a, 09-13-2008, 02:49 PM I use notepad++ on windows and kate on linux (kde). Both are free. Textmate on the mac is popular, but you have to pay for it. Old favorites by many developers are vim/emacs - though I don't see the appeal.
