I just received: [cPanel smartcheck] Possible Hard Drive Failure Soon ATA Error Count: 1512 (device log contains only the most recent five errors) Error 1512 occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 11736 hours (489 days + 0 hours) Error 1511 occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 11736 hours (489 days + 0 hours) Error 1510 occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 11736 hours (489 days + 0 hours) Error 1509 occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 11736 hours (489 days + 0 hours) Error 1508 occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 11736 hours (489 days + 0 hours) ----END /dev/sda-- What do you advice me to do? ask the DC to change the Hard Drive or wait till damaged? BTW I already have a weekly external Backup.

I wouldn't wait. We had one that showed errors in the evening, and while we were discussing our options it flaked out and died the following morning. No guarantees these are fatal errors you're seeing, but should you risk it? Have your provider double check the HDD integrity right away.

I have encountered this issue and was told that it was related to cPanel/WHM and not the actual hardware. Anxious to hear what your support team says.

They replied: It seems that your drive is actually failing. The test has been running for 2 hours now with almost no progress, this is usually indicative of a bad hard drive. Because of this we should take the server down and clone the hard drive to a new disk. The server will need to be down for about 3 hours for this. Based on what I am seeing it is not an entirely urgent issue but should be resolved soon. We can schedule the downtime for a time that is convenient for you. I see i have no choice.

That error does not always mean the drive is going bad, so always have it checked before replacing it. If they check it and say it's going bad, then you should go ahead.

They said it's going to fail, So i'm going ahead

Could be a cPanel issue a few of our clients had the same type of error.

Seems they did. Good luck! Better now when you know about it than at 3AM and the phone starts ringing.

Hi, It's not a cPanel issue but a hardware issue. The drive's own S.M.A.R.T. feature is reporting the problems all cPanel is doing is listening and then emailing you the results. @threemints You using Liquidweb? I recognize the response. I'd never delay more than a few hours on a potentially bad drive unless you have an N+2 raid setup.

Thanks. yes i'm using Liquidweb, and they responded and acted Quickly. They Changed the Hard in almost 2 hours. Thanks Liquedweb. I'm really a happy customer
