I was just wondering if anyone here is a domain name reseller for stargateinc.... I just wanted to get some more details about this, because I was not completely sure from the info on their website... If you are a reseller for them, the main thing I want to know, is do you set your own costs for domains that customers purchase.... any info on this would be greatly appreciated......Also if anyone knows of companies offering similar services....... thanks.........

I don't resell for them , but I'm familiar with their program. First thing is you need a NT server. You set your own costs. There are similar programs. Opensrs comes to mind.

There are alot of domain resellers, but they usually scare people away becuase of 1. Having to pre-pay for all the domains. 2.Setup fee.

Hello The stargate srs software requires a Windows 2000 dedicated server to run it and it doesn't look like it will integarte easily if you want to offer additional TLD's. The OpenSRS software will run on a shared Linux account (as long as you have the right modules) so its probably easier. With Stargate reducing their regular price to $8.85 its unlikely that anyone is going to compete on price with them. This means you need to be looking at adding extra value services to justify a higher price. Gordon

stargateinc may be cheap but i have had nothing but problems with them. it has taken a week to get a domain listed in the whois and to be functional even.

We did a domain last week, it showed up within 12 hours after registering for a client ..

I registered over 50 domains this week from them and it shows up in the whois in 12 hours. I use the DomainXpress feature and have a bulk account but don't use the API as I have Linux Servers

Only problem with Stargateinc is their API scripts can only be installed on NT servers. Otherwise their price is pretty good. I like their Control Panel too.

Stargate works fine as long as you are registering domains during their office hours. 3 out of 5 days we are unable to register domains until 09:00 CST because their systems have gone down during the night. Its getting less frequent, but it is a real pain and the major factor counting against them at the moment. It might explain why customers in the US have less problems witht hem than customers in other time zones. Gordon

Do you have any idea about prepay and setup charges. If you know the pricing than please let me know.

Jolly, for stargateinc.com API you pre-pay for 20 domains x $8.00 and the setup fee is $50.00. The total to get started is like $210.00 here is the link http://www.stargateinc.com/pages/stargatesrs.htm
